STRENGTH TRAINING ASSIGNMENT

BODY CONDITIONING KIN229

SLO: Students will be able to correctly demonstrate 6 different strength training exercises using all 4 different types of training equipment from the following: Hand-held weights, Elastic Tubing, Body Weight, and Stability Balls.

 

1.     Each student will prepare 6 DIFFERENT strength training exercises (six exercises per student) using all four pieces of equipment or modalities (i.e. hand-held weights, elastic bands, own body weight and stability balls).

2.     Student will fill out the form on the bottom of this sheet and bring it to class on the day of the assessment.

3.     Resources on skeletal anatomy, muscles of the body and movement of the muscles can be found under “Resources”  on the top of the Body Conditioning syllabus at www.phylliseckler.info as well as on page 66 of the Fitness book.

4.     Each student must be able to say which muscles are being used and how (e.g. isotonic or isometric, concentric or eccentric see pages 51-52) without looking at notes for each exercise.

5.     One exercise must come from a book, two from periodicals (magazines). While others can come from online sites. You must use MLA citation format to cite your sources. See pages on how to cite online periodicals at www.phylliseckler.info “Body Conditioning” under RESOURCES

6.     For a more efficient use of time students will switch off as they demonstrate their workout so that they have time to move from one modality/training equipment to the next after doing ten reps of each exercise. If an exercise is done on one side of the body (e.g.bicep curls) it must be repeated on the other side and it will only count as one exercise.
